Recently I've been thinking about things I can do to help you - my readers - aside from, you know, scorchingly hot books to help you all take a little break from the world. The idea that kept coming up was giving you something useful - something you can use in your everyday. Something that maybe helps your life be a little easier.

That's one of the reasons I shared the first chalk painting project with you - chalk painting is definitely the quick and easy way to refinish pieces so you can use them.

But chalk painting isn't enough. You deserve more awesome stuff. To that end, a few new things are going to be popping up on the blog. A recent dehydrator purchas combined with a vacuum sealer attachment for jars, a container garden on the back deck, all that sort of thing, have helped me fine this idea down. Sure, you'll still get lots of great info on books and fun stuff, but you'll also get shortcuts for the everyday.

What does that mean - "shortcuts for the everyday"? It means ways to make meals easier for busy days, or ways to save money or ideas for fun stuff to do. Some of it may not apply to you - but your feedback on the site will help shape what sorts of things are getting time. Are recipes more important? Organizational tips? Hot deals? Excerpts from stuff in progress? Over the next little while, we'll try different things - and together we'll figure out what works.

Here's to new avenues - of awesome.

I have about a billion and seven projects to do - this comes from buying a house and actually wanting to be able to live in it comfortably. Crazy idea.

In any case, of my billion and seven projects, about half are painting or refinishing projects of various kinds. I need to sand down and repaint the bar of hideousness (y'all. The bar has a faux finish designed to look like rough plaster work, and it's painted shiny, shiny baby poo brown. And it has a burnt orange laminate counter top.). I have a number of pieces of furniture that need refinishing, including an old record cabinet and a small lady's desk which belonged to my fathers' parents. And there are (actually, now, WERE) a number of pieces that simply needed to be refreshed and/or made not ugly.

I'm giving away a copy of Trusting Destiny at The Romance Reviews during their 2nd anniversary party. There are lots of great books being given away over there, so I definitely recommend checking it out.

So, here's the scoop on Trusting Destiny. When I wrote it initially, I have to say that Eric - the hero - was very clear in my head. He was so fantastic to write, such a lot of fun. I really enjoyed it. Maggie - the heroine - is great, too. Her mother just died and left her in possession of some family heirlooms that are...quirky and interesting to say the least. One is an old - and I do mean old - family Bible and the other is a necklace with a stone that her mother says is from Biblical times. Maggie isn't buying it and so she takes them both to Eric to see what he thinks.

Y'all. I saw this vid, and I thought... that's excellent. Horrible, excellent, and amazing all at one time.

Cupcake roulette, as the description says, is "like Russian Roulette, but with food and less deaths."

Enjoy.

Emily and I are working on a joint story - it's a menage. We're nearly through with it, so we'll keep you posted.

I'm also working on the follow-on to Twice as High, so there will be a new Tlin menage story out pretty soon. I'm aiming to have that out by the end of March or beginning of April, so hopefully that works out.

Both Em and I are working on numerous other projects, so we should have lots of new things out this year. Hooray!
